Sports Betting Legal in Your State?
With the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection
Act (PASPA) in June, there are several states looking to legalize online sports betting.
The Supreme Court’s ruling on PASPA has changed the US sports betting landscape,
and several states have already started the licensing process. Some of these states

There are four states currently in the process of legalizing sports betting. While each
state has a unique set of regulations and potential revenue numbers, the common

the state will take the first step toward legalizing the activity. This will allow for the

The number of states that have authorized sports betting is growing, as is the list of

These include DraftKings, Betway, and FanDuel. Each of these sportsbooks is well-
known in overseas markets and offers competitive odds and a variety of bets.
Nevada is the country’s premiere state for in-person wagering, and is also known for
its online betting option. With more than a dozen online operators, it has been a
major hub for sports betting for decades. As an added bonus, the state’s casinos are
some of the largest in the country.
Massachusetts and North Carolina are two of the most anticipated states to launch
online betting in the near future. Both states have passed legislation to allow retail
sports betting, and both states have approved in-person wagering. When these bills
were introduced in 2022, it was thought that legal sports betting could be underway
by the end of the year. Unfortunately, however, the legislation was not signed into
law until late 2022.
Connecticut is expected to launch sports betting in October of 2021. Governor Neal
Lamont has struck a deal with the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes to run
the sport. They have agreed to partner with PlaySugarhouse and FanDuel, and they
will be able to take bets through these apps by October of 2021.
Virginia is a close neighbor to Maryland and Washington D.C., and has the potential
to be a market leader, but its population and tax revenue lag behind the rest of the
country. Its lawmakers have pushed back some loopholes to compensate for a lack
of tax revenue.
Indiana is the country’s most populous state, and it is also home to a huge gambling
industry. In addition to online betting, the state is expected to add more than a
dozen in-person locations for wagering. By the end of the year, more than a dozen
sportsbook apps will be available to Indiana residents.
